Beans & Fatback

Beans & Fatback a country, soul band from Holland. They mix music with food. During every rehearsel session the band cooked a great meal. The album and a cook book were born. Their debut album Finger Lickin’ Good is released on Excelsior recordings.

The track All I Think About goes great with Classic French Chicken in white wine sauce from Jamie Oliver. Hey, that tastes good!

Verbal Headlock

Nobody knows who Clutchy Hopkins is. But supposedly, he is a multi-instrumentalist who recorded under various pseudonyms throughout his entire musical career; his recorded output consists of everything from field recordings of his travels to avant compositions, to jazz to funk.

From his latest album The Story Teller on Ubiquity Records is the track Verbal Headlock. The video is directed Christian Borstlap, an Amsterdam based art director and sometimes film director.

The Bottle

Gil Scott-Heron on of the inspirators of rap music. One of his best known songs is The bottle from the album Winter in America (1974). A classic!
The song contains hip hop elements such as rapping, cultural and political references, heavy drumbeats and a minimalist production. The song’s theme uses alcohol, or the bottle, as a metaphor for ghetto life and its long-term effects on its users.

Turkish psychadelic funk

If you like Bollywood Soundtracks, Lollywood songs, primitive Turkish psych, Japanese choreography records, Welsh freak beats, drugsploitation operatics,  Czechoslovakian vampire soundtracks, and 60’s bubblegum folk visit the Finders Keeper site.

Finders Keepers, is new British record label, 40 years in the making, introducing fans of psychedelic / jazz / folk / funk / avant-garde and whacked-out movie musak to a lost world of undiscovered vinyl artifacts from the annals of alternative pop history.

One of my favourite albums is Genclik ile elele by Mustafa Özkent. Listen to Lorke and Dolana, Dolana and play it loud! Continue reading ‘Turkish psychadelic funk’

Few Quiet People

Few Quiet People is an independent record label focused on digital contemporary forms, based in Poland.

The label was founded on August 5, 2009 by Wojciech Krasowski, Maciej Nejman and Cezary Rudas. The main interest is to drive the repetive drone sounds into the direction of pop.

I Like Noizoline , a track of the debut album of Nejmano. The album is an instrumental record and cinematic journey between melody and noise.
