The Har-You Percussion Group

Harlem Youth Opportunities Unlimited, (aka HARYOU), was a social activism organization in the 6o’s. The group worked to increase opportunities in education and employment for young blacks in Harlem.

There also was a music group, called the The Har-You Percussion Group and they made an album, called Songs From The Ghetto Youth. A great album featuring a mix of funky bass, heavy drums, burning horn lines and soulful vocals.

Listen what these eleven 16- to 19-year-old boys did under the guidance of Jamaican-born percussionist Montegro Joe.

Vinyl fitness

The Vinyl Workout designed by Theo Watson is an interactive project that transforms your floor into a digital record player.

A giant record is projected on the floor and it can be played by running around its surface in the direction you want it to go. If you run slow the record plays slow, if you run fast the record goes fast and plays backwards or rewinds when you start moving on the opposite direction. Next version will have scratch mode.

The Vinyl Workout creates a playful environment, as you can create picture variations of a treadmill at your personal fitness center.
